Patricia Frymyer (Lancaster, PA USA) :
So far so good...I needed a better processor with higher RAM and memory, plus something that allowed me to work from home when necessary. This laptop can run several programs, including Microsoft Office, simultaneously and at a good processing speed. The keyboard is very comfortable to use; and setting it up was easy. Very happy with this!
Oscar R. Reyes "Matias" (North Jersey) :
Fast processor, 3rd Generation I5 but wrong speed is indicated in the product description. It's only 2.5 mhz not 2.6 mhz.
After 2 months of regular use, I'm fully satisfied with its performance. Though I have a minor concern . . The position of the touchpad is little bit closer to my left hand but I'm left handed so my left hand palm keep on touching the touch pad which moves the cursor unintentionally when I write.
Delbert A. McNew (Greeley, Colorado, US) :
When I needed to replace my desktop I decided to get a lap top. I chose Samsung because my Samsung TV
proved to be a good buy. So far I have used my laptop for word processing using Microsoft Word. I am well
pleased with my little computer.

Samsung Series 9 900X3C - 13.3" - Core i7 Discounts
Steve Marx (Illinois) :
Had defective touch pad from day one, neither amazon or there vendor were of any assistance. Had to go through the manufacturer. Unit is great other than touch pad fault. At the manufacturer getting fixed as I write this. I antonline is vendor no one wants to purchase from. They wouldn't even email me when contacted about the fault.
ShoppingAddict (NY) :
This is the best ultrabook. The Acer with the toughscreen has a very thick screen vs the razor thin screen on the series 9, it came with windows 7 (better than 8), and the quality of the construction is awesome. Touchpad is fine once you update the driver. I looked at all the ultrabooks and this is the best.
Epicure (USA) :
I bought this Samsung 900X3C-A04US ultrabook back in November and found typing extremely difficult as letters and words jumped all over the page and ended up in the middle of other sentences and even other paragraphs. I downloaded and installed Samsung's firmware keypad fix to no avail, so I sent it back to them for repair. They replaced the keyboard but that did not help at all, so I sent it back a second time, explaining the problem in detail. I just received the unit back from repair today but the problem was even worse than before--typing is now essentially impossible, and I have been a touch-typist for over 60 years! I am now trying to get a complete replacement for this turkey but I have no idea whether I will succeed; I have been told that the A05US was introduced to correct the typing problem, but nobody at Samsung will yet promise to send me that model instead.

Robert Nuzzo "robertnuzzo" (mountain view, ca) :
Very solid build, very mature design. The 8Gb flash drive gives the 1Tb hard drive a zippy response that makes it a real pleasure to use. The keyboard layout is sensible and feels right. The keystroke is a little shallow but that's a small quibble. I'm sure there's more to know but so far so good. And with Samsung's recent re-branding of their entire laptop line, prices on these models have fallen to a level that should change your buying strategy.
Ldroses (CA) :
First of all, I bought this laptop, but not from Amazon. I wanted the option of getting in some ones face IF there was a problem. I am happy to say this has not happened, and I am very impressed with this computer. I am still adjusting to Windows 8, but this is the OS windows offers, so may as well get use to it. The boot time is incredibly fast, battery life is great. All around, I am a happy camper.
Mike "Mike" (Phoenix, AZ) :
I tend to go through laptops and upgrade technology fairly quickly. This machine is hands down one of the best laptops I've ever had. Its fast, its light for the performance specs, it has a real graphics card that runs Steam games great- even over the HDMI out to a tv without any goofy lag. Backlit keyboard- and did I mention the hyperthreaded 4-core i7 is fast? It will run itself up to 3.2Ghz in high perf power mode under heavy load. This laptop ranks up there with my old overclocked 4Ghz desktop.
Cons- as mentioned by others, the mic port by the keyboard sucks. You can't video conference without a headset and type at the same time without sending machine gun shots to those on the other end. An upgrade on this would perfect the machine in my opinion.

Matthew Rogers "Systems Analyst" (Florida, USA) :
So I shopped the heck of this product segement. I looked at MSI,ASUS, and a few others. In the end the brands with the BEST displays were ASUS and Samsung. The Samsung display on this laptop was reviewed as superb and it is simply beautiful. I don't care for Windows 8, but this is the new standard so I can't fault Samsung. Fit and finish are good. Runs the new Aliens Colonial Marines maxed out along with DOTA2.
Randytheg (NY) :
This laptop definitely can be a replacement for the gaming desk top. Screen clarity is awesome and functions really really well.
I'm not sure about full high quality options for super heavy games, but this works decent with Aion, World of warcraft and Blade and Soul (with medium option, in Korean server). Anyway if you consider to buy a laptop for gaming, this is the right choice.
But you should know this is made for home use, not for portable mobility because it is kind of heavy and big.
Gwe (Surrey, UK) :
This is a great machine but hate the Windows 8. (just don't understand it). We have had problems with the screen not coming on and have had to remove the battery to shut it down. The battery is so heavy perhaps it gets nudged the wrong way. We only use this when traveling by auto. I think we will continue to use the 14" when flying even though we prefer the larger screen. This machine is FAST. We used to blame hotel systems for the slowness but this machine has indicated that was not the case. This is even fast on the hotel Wi-Fi.

Robert J. Pipes (Wisconsin) :
I needed a bigger laptop to use for my own purposes and also in my job giving training sessions in basic computer use. I agonized for several weeks trying to decide which one and finally settled on the Samsung because of the large 1TB disc, 8GB ram and the 17.3" screen and also the I7 processor which could handle virtualbox software for Win 7 and XP operating systems to run as virtual machines concurrently with Win 8. I now have Virtualbox, Win 7, Win 8 and XP installed and running and it handles it with ease. The screen size is very good for me. The only downside is that this is not a light machine. When you put it in a bag with power cord and other stuff I carry around it is a load. But that is the trade off I made.
I have not noticed a problem with the sound as some others have, but then again at my age, I dont need a boom box. And what can you say about Win 8? It had me baffled for a couple of days but now it is OK and I can live with it. I use an Iphone so it I kind of understand what they are trying to do and I understand there may be an update coming that will improve it.
I would reccommend this machine if you are looking for one that is this big (disc, ram, processor) and it comes at a great price.
Sandra (santo andre, são paulo Brazil):
I'm not much of a computer person. I know wish I would have purchased the touch screen option. It is still taking some getting use to, in regards to the navigation. The graphics are nice, it runs well. I must admit I need to read my manual so that I can make sure to take advantage of all the neat features offered.
Fredrick O. Perlee (NY) :
After several weeks researching the market for what I needed (website management, photography, and publishing), I locked onto this laptop for its quality, durability and design features. I like the 1600x900 res. especially. Speed is good also. For the money ($699.99- you might find it cheaper now), it hasn't let me down yet. I've used it daily for 5 months now and have no problems what-so-ever. If you have a problem with the learning curve in Windows 8, just download a cheap eBook from Amazon.com (Kindle eBooks) about Windows 8 (which can be viewed on your laptop), and your off and running. With some practical exploring it becomes a breeze. I recommend this computer over any other laptop in its category. Also, I recommend Tiger Direct as your seller if they still have this model in stock, or any other computer in stock. They are very professional and prompt.

Lucian (Illinois, USA) :
I bought this for my wife, for Xmas. Originally she had her sights on the Apple Air laptop but had never used iOS before. She liked the fact that the Apple was slim and had a long battery life, but I was afraid of the learning curve and the fact that we had to purchase additional software compatible with iOS. Enter Samsung Series 9: Amazon ordering was easy and shipping was lightning-fast, as always. When she opened the box she was absolutely amazed at how well the laptop looked. However, she really started loving it when she saw how fast it was, due to the solid state drive and pretty fast processor. She loves the fact that it's "pretty", it's fast, looks good overall and only charged it a couple of times over the last week or so.
Solid product and happy wife!
RickT555 (California) :
i loved the ultrabook....so light. But unfortunately i bought the one with Windows 8....that was a big mistake,.......did I say a BIG mistake ? i just found Windows 8 uncomfortable.....so much unnecessary messing about to find the same Start as Windows 7.....but with the side bar complication.
i returned the Ultrabook and am ordereing one with Windows 7 instead.....I have no criticism of the Ultrabook Series 9 itself , it suits my needs exactly. But Windows 8 is for Apps. and more suited to touch screen.
Sunshineran (Saint Louis) :
i may say, I like this series of computer from samsung. They are very slim, light & fast. I like the material very much. Very nice feeling when you touch it. The features of this model is not bad, except the screen color resolution. its even a lot worse than the cheap levono edge 13 I brought 3 years ago. Well, I think it might because i bought a used one which originally has some defects. The one I got, besides the screen resolution, the touchpad didn't work when i second day I used it. The arrow was jumping around the whole screen itself several times. So, I had to return to to Amazon. Overall, I cant judge whether this model is good or not from my bad luck. But i will never try to buy a used laptop.

I'm no computer nerd so I'm not going to bore you with specifics because to be honest I don't know a lot about them except for the hardware. What I do know is this computer is FAST, built solid, lightweight, charges fast, holds a charge quite well and does everything we need it to do. Windows 8 was little weird at first but once I got a hang of it it's not much different than other versions you just have to figure out where things are. For the price it's a solid little rig and I wish this was mine instead of the wifes now I'm jealous because I'm stuck with our 8 year old desktop and she can walk all around the house and do everything plus more than I can. Yes, she loves it too but I should have bought it for myself. :-)
Claude Kuffskie (Philadelphia, pa USA) :
Laptop performs well. It was delivered on time in good condition. Only bad thing is it comes with Windows 8. Do not get anything with windows 8 installed. It sucks. If I had known how bad it is I would never have bought a computer with Windows 8. I am looking in to downgrading to Windows 7. It will cost me another hundred dollars, but will probably be worth that to get rid of this crap operating system.
V. J. Ribaudo "MRGDGT" (Litchfield NH) :
This is a good computer for the money. Windows 8 is very interesting to learn but once you do,it is very easy. The only short coming I have found is the camera. It is advertised as 1.3 MP but it only shows up a as .9 MP. Images are very grainy.

It is taking us a bit of time to get used to the new Windows format; however, the machine is pretty quick. I'm not a techie, so specifics, i can't give. I got this computer primarily because my daughter loves to create animated videos with Windows Movie Maker while listening to a constant stream of music from Youtube and chatting with friends on Facebook. Works well for that.
Melody Collins (USA) :
I received my laptop promptly and am in love with it so far. The only thing I have to complain about is getting used to Windows 8! LOL but the laptop hasn't given my any problems so far. It isn't too heavy to carry. The sound is clear, and the display is bright and clear. I am in love with it at this point...ask me again in 6 months or a year. :)
GoldenFlash (WA) :
I am extremely unhappy with this purchase. I have to wait 15-20 minutes every time the computer wakes up or gets turned on before the wireless internet decides to work. Then it will cut out at any given time which you will have to wait until the computer decides to start receiving from the internet again. I would strongly suggest getting a different laptop because this will give you more headaches than you have Tylenol.

I really regret buying this device... the charger get really really hot. The wireless adapter does not work well, just to hibernate and you have to reboot your computer. But the worst part is Samsung support: it is the WORST ever!!! I followed all the procedures they told me to fix the wireless adapter problem, just a Basic Recover.... and since then my computer just get Windows blue screen!!! I went to Customer Representative office and I got the worst service ever! Now I have a big big problem. Think 1000 times before buying Samsung!
DavidsonvilleMom (Davidsonville, MD USA) :
The computer blue screened within 5 minutes of being on! the Wifi is terrible!! I did speed test with the Samsung and did it with a 5 year old dell. . . . the Samsung barely had .49 download and only 1.4 up.... the dinosaur (old Dell) was significantly higher. WAY to much money for a computer of this price. I like that it is quiet and cool sitting on my lap but it is going back just waiting for info from the seller. VERY disappointed.
G. Yocum "fixitgeorge" (Las Vegas, NV, US) :
After less than 3 months the Computer Died..No Video , Nothing came on.
Sent it in for repair. Warranty is 36 months both Parts and Labor and They fixed the Hardware issue and now they want to charge me to reimage and to ship it back.
I did nothing to cause the problem as it was a Hardware issue.
Then they try to get money from me when it was Samsung's fault.

Winnie (Manila, PH) :
Over all, it's OK ultrabook for the price (I paid 699+tax). It's portable, good looking, like the cheap cousin of Mac air. I've been using it for about 6 months. The learning curve for windows 8 is pretty steep. And, somehow the track pad doesn't work and Samsung hasn't fixed it yet.
Miguel Espinoza (ventura, ca) :
I purchased this notebook to replace my Surface RT that I sold. The Surface was a great idea; however it was a bit too sluggish for me and my needs. It became frustrating on how well it was built, but how poor it performed under stress. This notebook is amazing. Pretty darn fast and handles everything I throw at it. It even handles some light gaming: Bastion, Amnesia, From Dust, and System Shock 2. Not very demanding games; however, it nice to game lightly on my secondary PC. As a portable powerhouse for browsing, lite photo/video editing, and school work it is amazing. Great product.
J. Catuira "bohol, panglao island" (los angeles, california) :
It's very good. I think the SSD can be faster, but overall a very fast system. I can't comment on Windows 8 performance as I only used Windows 8 on it for about 10 minutes so I could upgrade the BIOS firmware from Samsung. I think it ran Windows 8 fine.

Bryan (Chesterfield, VA) :
If you realize that you are buying a product that runs google's OS, relies on google products (calendar, gmail, google+, etc.) and has limited functionality offline, then you will be happy with this product. If you are anticipating buying a fully functional netbook or a macbook air, then you will not be happy with this product. A number of reviews that I found online badmouthed the Chromebook and would constantly compare it to the macbook air. At half the cost, this product is amazing. This boots and loads webpages faster than my Lenovo Thinkpad, is lighter and cooler (temperature) than my Thinkpad and is ultimately a lot more portable. Although a lot of the processing and accessibility is compromised, this is a great product for browsing the internet and just relaxing.
M. Lobdell "mmlobdell" (Knoxville TN) :
I purchased this for my husband who likes to surf the web, answer e-mails, and not do much else on a portable. His tablet does not run the same, does not have as big of a screen and isn't designed to surf the web like a lap top; this fills the bill for all of his needs. He did not need the disk drives or software. He loves the Chromebook; fast, easy to use, picks up wi-fi hotspots and isn't complicated for a guy for whom technology is not his thing. It is sleek and light and easy to travel with. Great purchase.
Update: It is now March, and this has become my husband's "go to" machine for all things web related. He never misses his laptop. No issues with viruses, no mechanical problems. Still love it.
Googlefan (Detroit, MI United States) :
It's on it's way and the specs indicate that it will be even better than the first samsung that I ordered whenever the chromebook was first introduced. Initially, I didn't use the chromebook much, but over the last year, I have completely moved to it and away from my pc laptop. My wife has an ipad that she never uses anymore as she prefers the connectivity of the chromebook and the real keyboard and touchpad. If Mint software or quicken would introduce more robust cloud based software ( saving data, creating reports, etc), I would have no need for pc at all. I'm looking forward to that day. BTW the new chrome update is great and will be much better for people who are just now moving from pc to chromebook.

Shelly Parent (Miami) :
What a nice little package. Most of any of the problems with this unit has to do with updating the drivers through the swupdate utiltiy in the samsung pc. Just start typing swupdate and it will pop up. You need to run this after each update installation until it says no more updates. Reboot after each update. I had 10 updates on my and it corrected all the issues.
Pen Name (Mesa, AZ) :
Shipment came in on time. There is just so much wrong. Internet very rarely works. Every time I turn it on, it has to process something. The apps, you download, don't work or work really slowly. The keyboard works when it wants. The audio works well. I wanted the tablet for school, and made a poor choice. Most of the work you need to download is through word processor which you have to buy it extra. Within the few weeks I've had it, I've had to reboot it several times. It just goes on and on. Not the best product on the market
A. Rangel "study queen" (St, Martinville, LA) :
I enjoy my smart PC. At first I was frustrated with windows 8 but once I got the hang of it, I an going to expand my knowledge. It arrived on time and in good condition. Thank you.

Samsung ATIV Tab 5 XE500T1C-K01US 11.6-Inch Discounts
Zdzislaw (USA) :
This is a very useful tablet with so many cool features. The best thing about this tablet is that this can be used as a lap top computer with the detachable full size key board. Even with the keyboard it is slim and weighs less. Totally fit inside my back pack. While all usual tablet features are available, this tab also can be used to type documents. Data can also be input using a touch pen or fingers. The more sensitive touch screen allows inputting data using all five fingers. And it responds very quickly. Battery life is extraordinary and up to 7hours until next recharge. The tablet Is with 64GB hard disk. But for such a powerful machine that is not even nearly enough. That is why I am using an equally fast SD memory chip.
Jonathon P. Lunardi (Richmond, VA USA) :
I really wanted to like this product. Everyone has Macs around me and I am a PC guy at heart. I read great reviews about the tablet and really liked the S pen concept. Here is what happened.
I got the device with keyboard. The Windows 8 mobile interface is pretty cool and I liked that. When I plugged in the keyboard and then tried to access it in desktop mode and with Internet Explorer, it was just so damn slow, slow.
S. Wagner (Huntington, NY United States) :
I looked at this tablet while perusing a big box store. I was originally looking for a larger tablet (I own 2 Samsung Tab 2 7.0") to use for my business. I run two eCommerce stores and sell on various online channels. I do not have a laptop, just a desktop. What appealed to me was the full Windows experience with the tablet size. It could function as my laptop and tablet.
After thinking about it, I wound up going with a Tab 3 10.1. Almost immediately after getting home I regretted my decision. I called around to various stores in the big box chain trying to fine one of these with no luck. I hopped on Amazon, read the reviews elsewhere, and made the purchase, returning the other tablet.

Samsung Series 9 NP900X4D-A05US 15-Inch Discounts
Adir-Yigal Hassid (Chi, IL) :
This computer is great. amazing build quality and a very nice screen. it runs silent which i find really cool, and it does not really heat up to much. performance is great. but out of the box it is very sluggish because there are multiple drivers that you need to download (from Samsung) in order to get the system running properly.
Joseph B. Griffioen "Eclectic Mix" (Iowa) :
The laptop is lightening fast, sharp screen, and looks nice. It's for my son at college, so it hasn't been used for that yet, but it meets every expectation so far.
Rose Anderson (Iowa, USA) :
I purchased two Series 9 laptops. Could not get the first one to run, spent 8 hours working on it and finally gave up and sent it back. The 2nd one has wireless connection issues and after a week of torture trying to use it I am sending it back as well. It will work for about 10 or 15 minutes and then I get a message telling me that the wireless connection is gone. This happens at home and at my work location. I tried adjusting the power saving settings per suggestions on the Samsung website but still having problems. I will NEVER buy a Samsung notebook again, they should stick to TVs.

Samsung ATIV Book 5 14-Inch Discounts
Woodrow Benson (McLean, VA USA) :
I liked the ATIV Book 5 enough that when I had to return it because of a minor issue I got a replacement rather than a different laptop. (Hats off to Amazon for remarkable service; they sent me a new one even before I returned the old one, so that I wasn't without a computer.) This unit has an excellent keyboard and touch pad, plus good battery life. It's also speedy and the build quality seems good. On the negative side, the screen is not as crisp as some others--look elsewhere if you're a video fanatic--and the black finish is a real fingerprint magnet. It's reasonably nice looking but not as cool as other Samsung laptops.
Heath W. Johnson (US) :
Computer seems fine. Fires up quick, easy to setup etc. Only issue is they installed 2 u's. one where u goes and another where J goes. Amazon was nice enough to send me another laptop out even before I sent in the defective one. Would have received 5 stars had this not happened. Ill update in a few months as well.
Joshua Nyambose (Florida,USA) :
I bought this computer to replace my old acer netbook and I have been pleasantly surprised by how wonderful this Samsung computer is. I like the 14 inch size, it's not too big or too small but perfect for my needs. The computer is very very light and is also extremely fast. I looked for a touch screen computer that was not too expensive or too heavy and I read a lot of reviews before I chose this one. I am happy that I decided to go for this ultrabook laptop. Although I paid less than $800 for it the computer looks and feels like a high end laptop. I like the great finish, big keyboard, great speakers and the battery lasts for a long long time. Even windows 8 does not feel as bad as other reviewers have said.

G. Trimble (San Diego, CA United States) :
I researched all the latest lightweight laptops to replace an aging Acer 12" Netbook. Needed something to travel with and use around the house. Wanted a 6+hour battery, 3 lbs or less and 13" screen. This 13" ultrabook is almost 1/2 lb lighter at 2.5 lbs than my older netbook and weighs the same as my wife's Ipad with keyboard. The screen is very bright and sharp. Computer is quiet and sleek looking, Macbook Air imitation. Battery is good for 6-8 hours. Computer boots up in seconds with the 128GB SSD. Wish it had a 256 GB SSD but 128GB will do the job and is a lot more than the Ipad offers. I did not like the Windows 8 interface so installed a simple app that replicated Windows 7 menu on startup. This computer should last me for another 5+ years.
Rick (Santa Clara, CA United States) :
I work in IT and havent had to buy a laptop in over 10 years. I really liked the size and specs of this laptop so I ordered it. Within 3 weeks the system board died. I contacted Samsung customer service and they are awful. they are clueless and I had to call back several times to get answers. The part was so back ordered that they said they would issue me a full refund. I heard from some colleagues that this has been happening a lot with Samsung
Ayesha Awan (USA) :
The laptop lives up to most of the expectations presented in advertisement and reviews. Its super thin and light, has a super fast start up (flash memory) and it is beautifully designed. But there were a few small issues that made me return it. Namely the display was too small, I kind of had to squint to see things. And on the track pad i was finding it hard to right click, that may have been something I needed to work on. Most importantly, I realized that, although solidly built, 2.5 pounds is just too light for my taste.

Michael North (California) :
This unit is probably fine if you're working mostly with documents, but it fails completely for image-related work. Not sure if I got a defective unit, but the display is so sensitive to angle of view that there is no way to tell if colors are accurate. There is a HUGE change in perceived color with just a small tilt of the display, or if viewed from the side. If you work with images or video, you need to spring for a true IPS display or perhaps one of the "wide-viewing angle" displays available from some manufacturers like Asus. I also think the case is TOO thin. Doesn't really fit the hand and has so little mass that it requires two hands to open. The fact that it needs a special dongle (that will likely get lost in a week) to plug-in a standard ethernet cable tells you they took this concept too far. Returned to Amazon.
Alex D (Oregon) :
Very good PC, relatively unexpensive, fast enough, can run from battery several hours (never had opportunity to use it long enough to completely drain battery). 256GB is good size for HD, a little less than 200BG left for storage, which is more than enogh for now, planning to buy 128GB SD card and put it in available reader permanently. Bright screen, never using it at full brightness (but did not have opportunity to test in bright sunlight). Incredibly light, which was one of main choice criteria: size and weight almost the same (0.5" larger), but screen is 1.7" larger diagonal (15" vs. 13.3")! Boots and daoes shutdown almost instantly.
Greg Porter "gp23" (Seattle) :
This is for the win 8 version of the a07 samsung series 9 15" ash black ultrabook
I won't rehash all the general stuff - suffice to say this is a very nice laptop. Light and powerful. Win 8 takes some getting used to but I'm over it. Suffice to say I'm a bit grumpy about one thing: Having bought the latest, greatest ultrabook with an i7 processor, 256gb ssd and 8GB ram I expected to be able to take advantage of intel's widi capability which was clearly listed in the specs for the model I purchased. But I cannot. Not compatible with this model despite all the various components being listed as compatible. Please reply to this review if you know of a way to make this work with Belkin screencast.

Samsung Series 9 NP900X3E-A02US 13.3-Inch Discounts
KS Lee (US) :
As many others have mentioned, this laptop will drop you from Wifi, even if you're right next to the router. We set the Wifi performance to maximum all the time. We had read about the issue and bought it anyway, hoping it was just a one off glitch. This definitely happens with all these laptops and is a major disappointment. What's the point of a laptop that drops you from the Internet all the time?
Donald R. McConathy (Bozeman,Mt) :
WiFi connection is difficult at best. It does not hold for long periods sometimes and computer has to be fairly near the box for service. Key pad is very sensitive causing screen action to jump easily. There does not seem to be any way to change the sensitivity. Computer does operate quickly otherwise. Windows 8 takes a little geting use to but otherwise works well. probably would not have purchased if I had realized these problems existed.
OCEANSIDE "R.T." (Fort Lauderdale, Florida) :
I am in love with this laptop, no problems,,BUT, the 128 GB memory has 98.85 GB of Samsung NTFS back up and restore software. SO you only have 29 GB of memory WTH, returning today! I had Samsung do a remote to check and that is what they said YUP that's right.

Samsung ATIV Book 9 NP900X4C-K01US 15-Inch Discounts
Gerald R Lacasse (STERLING, VIRGINIA, US) :
This ultrabook weighs less than half of what my previous Sony laptop weighed, and appears to have an aluminum frame. I'm guessing on the aluminum frame, as it doesn't flex like other ultrabooks I've tried. The finish and color give the impression of a high-end laptop, but be prepared to wipe for fingerprints after using. My only concerns were the limited viewing angles and storage. I find the need to adjust the screen more often than with my Sony which is a minor inconvenience. This model does not come with a touch-screen or DVD player, but I purchased a portable Samsung Blu-ray burner to install any additional software I have on disc, a 32 GB Corsair Survivor flash drive for portability between my office computer and this ultrabook, and MS Office 365 for accessing all of my files through the cloud (and in case I forget to bring the flash drive).
Collin (Connecticut) :
The computer was working fine for the first two weeks and then all of a sudden I went to turn it on and nothing happened. When I press the power button, the little blue light turns on and that's it. Nothing else happens (and yes I did make sure the battery wasn't dead). This is something that should not happen with a near $2,000 laptop.
MKW "MKW" (US) :
A thin vertical line appeared down the right side of the screen within hours after first use. Also, the hinges were loose so the screen often fell forward without being touched. Product was returned. Extremely disappointed with this purchase.

Samsung ATIV XE700T1C-A01US Smart Discounts
I. Thomas (Portland, OR) :
I'm hearing that the Pro version has the same glitchy keyboard connection system that makes it useless as a laptop. That's a shame! I had the Atom 500 version for a few days and sent it back and got a Sony Duo 11. The Samsung is a Chevy and the Sony is a Mercedes. And I LIKE Samsung! I love the Note phone and tablet a lot and have no plans to get rid of either of them. But Samsung went cheap on the ATIVs and will regret it. I bet some nameless Samsung keyboard design worker at the old Chaebol is feeding the fishes in the Seoul harbor!
Scott (CO) :
Most other reviews cover the keyboard issues and all are true. The weight is added without battery that could have been used as weight. Stupid design move. Tablet has had many bugs and many updates that have been addressing some of them, little by little. I would give the keyboard 2 stars and the tablet 4 due to the bugs. The track pad on the keyboard is very poor. I can understand Samsung not wanting to put much into that due to being a tablet. I would like to know where the options are that were described when I bought it. I will have to return and get a tablet that does not have so many unaddressed issues. Compared to what the Surface should be, the Samsung tablet is 2nd rate.
Rick Jung (San Francisco, CA United States) :
The tablet features are really cool, especially while in bed or the bathroom. The price, however, is much too steep. I thought the PC would be an 800 dollar (I bought it refurbished) laptop that has some cool tablet features, but it's an 800 dollar laptop with mediocre laptop features.

The tablet features are really cool, especially while in bed or the bathroom. The price, however, is much too steep. I thought the PC would be an 800 dollar (I bought it refurbished) laptop that has some cool tablet features, but it's an 800 dollar laptop with mediocre laptop features.

Cindy Yu (Torrance, CA United States) :
Finally, I received this ideal laptop by much expectation. The Samsung Series 9 is super and I love window 8. This laptop is the most expensive one I ever had, but it is worthy the money. The resolution is perfect on 15" screen, keyboard is very comfortable to type. the most important is the battery, lasts very long and recharge very quickly. The weight is another sparking point, very light! The total performance can be given 5 for sure.
Maximiliano o. (NJ) :
I must say that i love everything about this notebook. I saw in some reviews people complaining about the screen. I was not expecting a super retina display or anything like it, so for me this is a super fast, super nice ultrabook.
Now, the big and only cons i found is the pad, a real pain in the ass. But to say the true i don't care, i just plug in a mouse and problem solved....

This computer broke down twice within the first four months. Samsung ships your computer to a third party vendor for repair and it can take a month or more to get it back each time. The second time I sent it in, it was returned unrepaired. Thankfully the retailer allowed me to exchange it for a different brand. I understand that any manufacturer can turn out a computer that breaks down, but how this company handles its warranty service is terrible. I don't recommend anyone buy a computer from this company, but if you do and anything breaks down, don't send it in for warranty service if you can return it.
Nick (WA) :
A decent laptop for the price. Once removed of bloat ware runs nice and is sufficient for school and casual gaming. I did have to return my original due to an black screen issue. Have not heard of a lot of this so believe it was just that specific unit.
Gregory Merritt (Brunswick, Ga.) :
Paid a little more money after receiving this computer. Please be advised that this computer comes with Office 2013 trial version, but it does no come with a Key card, which is not mentioned anywhere on the description's page. If you are wanting Office 2013 after the 30 free trial you will also have to buy the key along with the computer.

Dean (Gainesville, Florida United States) :
I haven't bought a laptop in a long time and wanted one under 3 pounds at a reasonable price. I considered a Toshiba Protégé, Asus Zenbook, Acer S5 and a Thinkpad Carbon X1 besides this Samsung model. I ended up choosing the Samsung because of its matte screen and good price. It weighs 2 pounds 7.5 ounces (1120 grams) and the A/C power adapter weights 9.2 ounces (264 grams). Not under 3 pounds but close.
Deren Gursel (US) :
I bought this for my fiancee. I have a Series 9 (new edition) and love it. Therefore decided to buy this newly upgraded ATIV 9.
I love everything about this laptop; very thin, very lightweight, stunning screen(resolution, colors etc.), lightning fast (takes 1-2 seconds to resume or 5-6 seconds to turn it on).
It might be a little expensive, but I believe that this is the best ultrabook for the price.
SD_CREW (NJ) :
This computer is everything I could have wanted and more. The battery life is great, computer is fast and best of all the screen is absolutely beautiful! I didn't think I would like Windows 8, but I ended up really enjoying it and would recommend everyone to give it a chance and you will warm up to it.
Cons: To be hoenst I can't say anything bad about this computer. It looks gorgeous, is fast and is extremely portable.

Michael pronchick (douglassville, pa United States) :
I am amazed at how well this runs. I never thought I would use a product with an ATOM chip in it again. The ATOM cpu has finally matured! The speakers are on the front and the loudest I have heard in a tablet or laptop. The screen is lower resolution would prefer 1080p but it does well. Do not let the 2gb ram scare you away. Windows 8 works well on just 2gb. I can open open up 15 large sites and it doesnt miss a beat. The gpu with hardware accel provided by power dvd player can handle 1080p hi10 mkv. This device can also handle 1080p flash with gpu accel. Only gets warm to the touch during heavy work loads. Battery life is outstanding for a x86 machine.
Mike (USA) :
First, uninstall Samsung Support Center. That will often keep the tablet from restarting or shutting down properly as it starts on boot-up and runs in the background but won't always shutdown properly. Then, use the Samsung SW Update program to get the drivers up to speed.
Henry Newman (ST PAUL, MN USA) :
I am systems consultant so I am pretty advanced user. Out of the box I started removing Norton and the crap on the system. This not much different than what I have to do on almost all systems anyway. This will be our vacation travel machine. Skype, managing pictures, email etc. Maybe replace my Kindle. I am NOT going to use this for gaming etc. I have not had the disconnect problem but 1 time as of yet and it lasted a few second. Otherwise I am darn impressed with the performance and the system. I am still getting used to Windows 8 I must admit. I believe the WiFi is very fast and if you want a light weight system with MS Office and reasonable performance this is a great machine.

Jesse N. (ny) :
I just received this laptop and honestly this is one of the worst I've ever worked with and I'm a comp repair tech... Not only does the touchpad not work properly but works when it wants to but the keyboard is acting as if the function key is stuck. I've went through every necessary update so far, drivers, windows 8 junk OS, Samsung support had me reset the bios and it worked for about 3 minutes, I've reset it 7 times since then just to type and search for answers online. I have been trying to resolve these problems for 2 days now, not a good start.
Dymond 33 (Any where USA) :
This is an excellent purchase. it is light and it is very quick. I am learning windows 8 it takes some getting used too. The colors and graphics are excellent. One con the pad is really sensitive, but you have to let the page settle and then move the cursor or the page keeps moving up and down. Great Price for a laptop with keyboard/blue-tooth/great speakers. It works great with Samsung Galaxy Phone.
